Russia's chief of staff says Moscow will not deliver S-300 air defense systems to Iran due to international sanctions that have been imposed over Tehran's nuclear program, Ha'aretz (Israel) reports.
Gen. Nikolai Makarov said delivery of the weapon would violate the U.N. sanctions that Russia supports.
Russia signed a contract to deliver at least five S-300 systems to Iran in December 2005, noted RIA Novosti. Moscow has repeatedly delayed delivery of the system.
