Representatives of Sudan and southern Sudan have agreed to withdraw their troops from the disputed region of Abyei and allow Ethiopian peacekeepers to come in and patrol, the New York Times reports.
The deal was signed Monday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The agreement was mediated by Thabo Mbeki, the former president of South Africa.
Northern troops stormed Abyei in May. More than 100,000 people fled the city and troops have sporadically clashed since then.
