The Indian air force plans to deactivate three squadrons this year at the same time if finds itself forced to cannibalize older aircraft to maintain the operational availability of some of its fighter fleets, reports the New Indian Express.
The deactivation decision will affect MiG-21 and MiG-27 squadrons, each with 18 aircraft, say defense sources. An Su-30 squadron is expected to follow.
