After Mediator Mistakenly Hit, Tribesmen Strike Pipeline

A pre-dawn airstrike on Tuesday targeting Al-Qaida fighters in Yemen's Maarib province accidentally killed a government mediator, Reuters reports.
Deputy provincial governor Jaber al-Shabwani and three others were killed instantly in the Wadi Obeida area when their car was destroyed, said a government official. Two other people were reported wounded.
Shabwani had been trying to persuade Al-Qaida militants to surrender at the time of the incident, said the official.
