U.S. Navy Adm. Scott Swift has announced his retirement as commander of the Pacific Fleet, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune.
He announced the move after finding out that he had no possibility of being promoted. The admiral was in charge of the Pacific Fleet this summer when 17 sailors died in two ship collisions, noted NBC News.
