Al-Qaida in the Islamic Magreb (AQIM) has freed a South African man it held for almost six years, reports Agence France-Presse.
Stephen McGown, 42, was abducted in November 2011 in Timbuktu in northern Mali.
The kidnappers also took a Swede and a Dutchman. The former was released in June; the man from the Netherlands was freed by the French military in April 2015.
AQIM claimed responsibility.
