After 6 Decades, Armed Police Get Odor-Free Training Shoes

July 23 2015

China

The Chinese People's Liberation Army Armed Police are getting new shoes that are supposed to be odor-free even after the longest march, reports the BBC.

The black shoes will replace the green canvas "liberation shoe" in use since the 1950s. All armed police units will take delivery of the footwear by the end of July.

The new design is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and odor-resistant, said the officer in charge of the shoe design, as cited by China's Xinhua news agency.
