A Taliban spokesman has said an Afghan soldier shot up to three American servicemen last week in Helmand province before defecting, the Los Angeles Times reports.
NATO confirmed the deaths of two U.S. personnel on Thursday in Sangin district, but did not revealed the causes of death.
A blog from the Los Angeles Times later reported that two Marine lance corporals had been killed.
Western military officials said Saturday they were investigating the Taliban claims.
