Foreign Minister Carl Bildt announced that Sweden will extend its mission in Afghanistan for another year, reports Radio Sweden.
However, the 500-strong contingent is not likely to receive another 65 troops, as requested by the military, Bildt said.
The government would prefer to strengthen the civilian component of the mission, according to the minister.
