Defense Secretary Robert Gates has approved the counterinsurgency (COIN) skills said to be needed for troops headed to Afghanistan, reports the Army Times.
The COIN Qualification Standards cover nine major skill areas with around 52 subtasks intended to focus unit training before deployments to Afghanistan.
