The French military has acknowledged that its troops mistakenly killed four Afghan civilians during an early April skirmish in Kapisa province, CNN reports.
During the April 6 incident, French troops fired a rocket at seven Taliban fighters, said an army spokesman.
Unbeknownst to the soldiers, five civilians were under a nearby tree, said the spokesman. Four were killed; the fifth was wounded and is recovering.
