Germany's domestic security service has placed a far-right political party under surveillance on suspicion of extremism, reports Politico Europe (Brussels).
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) has declared the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party to be an "expected case" of far-right extremism, enabling it to increase monitoring and observe and wiretap individual members and hire internal informants, reported Der Spiegel.
