According to internal U.S. military statistics, Afghan civilian deaths caused by allied forces have risen despite a two-year effort by American commanders, the Los Angeles Times reports.
There have been 160 civilian fatalities in Afghanistan this year, compared to 144 at this time in 2009, the military totals indicate.
The increase came at a time with more incidents in which NATO helicopters fired on civilians.
