Fighting between Philippine troops and police and Abu Sayyaf militants on a resort island has left nine people dead, says the army, as reported by Rappler (Philippines).
The encounter began early morning on the island of Bohol, about 400 miles south of Manila, when soldiers and police spotted 10 heavily armed men suspected to be Abu Sayyaf members on three boats, said the military, as reported by UPI.
