Saudi Arabia wants to purchase 600 to 800 Leopard 2 main battle tanks from Germany, more than twice as many as originally espected, reports Agence France-Presse.
A deal for 800 tanks would be worth 10 billion euros (US$12.6 billion), one of the biggest-ever for the German defense industry, reported the Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
An agreement for a first tranche of 300 tanks is ready to be signed, the paper said. The Saudis reportedly want to wrap up the whole deal by July...
