President Barack Obama is seeking $80 billion in funding over the next decade to upgrade U.S. nuclear arms, Reuters reports.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the funds would be used to "rebuild and sustain America's aging nuclear stockpile."
Also on Thursday, the president submitted a nuclear arms-reduction treaty with Russia for Senate ratification.
