Around 700 NATO quick-reaction troops will be sent to Kosovo ahead of elections next month in neighboring Serbia, reports the Canadian Press.
About 550 German soldiers and 130 Austrian troops will arrive in the region on May 1, said a spokesman for Germany's central command.
NATO officials are concerned that Serbian parliamentary and local elections, scheduled for May 6, may reignite tensions between ethnic Serbs and Albanians in northern Kosovo.
