Fighting between Indian troops and suspected militants in Indian-administered Kashmir has left at least seven people killed, reports Zee News (India).

Four militants and a soldier were killed in a gun battle Thursday in the Handwara area in Kupwara district, said the army.

Security forces surrounded the town of Vilgam after receiving information about a group of militants hiding in the village, said a police officer.
