The U.S. Air Force has decided to release 6,000 active-duty airmen, both enlisted and officers, over the next two years, according to officials cited by the Air Force Times.
The proposed drawdown, along with the delayed commissioning of hundreds of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets and severely curtailed recruitment goals, would allow the Air Force to return to its mandated end-strength of 332,200 by early fiscal 2012, said officials
