5,000 Special Police To Maintain Order In Xinjiang

The Chinese government has decided to recruit 5,000 special police officers in the western Xinjiang region to prevent unrest, reports Xinhua, China's state news agency.
The new officers would serve under the Xinjiang Regional Public Security Bureau and operate throughout the region.
The additional security is aimed at preventing further outbreaks of violence such as the riots in the region last July.
