At least five Afghan soldiers have been killed and six wounded in a Taliban attack in the southern Kandahar province, reports the Pajhwok Afghan News.
On Wednesday, militants stormed a base in the Maiwand district, said a spokesman for the 205th Atal Corps.
The attackers dug a tunnel into the base and set off explosives as they began their assault.
An investigation into the attack has been launched, reported the Tolo News (Afghanistan).
