Canada's navy has decided to reduce funding to its reserve force by 5 percent, CBC News reports.
The Can$3 million (US$2.9 million) cut will affect sailors in Nova Scotia, and will hit training programs especially hard, naval officials said. Officially the navy is calling the move a "reallocation" of funds.
Fifty percent of reserve training is likely to be cut, a reserve spokesman said.
Details on the funding moves are expected to be announced in a few weeks.
