At least 41 people have been killed in the latest incidence of inter-ethnic violence in Mali, reports France 24.
The assault on Monday targeted the villages of Gangafani and Yoro, in Mali's central Mopti region along the border with Burkina Faso.
Gunmen on motorbikes killed residents and burned nearby fields, said witnesses cited by Agence France-Presse.
Issiaka Ganame, the mayor of Yoro, said that 24 people were killed in Yoro, most of them ethnic Dogons.
