3rd Son Tapped As Kim's Successor

North Korean leader Kim Jong Il has chosen his third son to be his successor, Agence France-Presse reports.

The announcement, apparently issued around Jan. 8, was somewhat unexpected, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

Kim Jong Un, 24, was born to the communist leader's third wife, since deceased. He was educated in Switzerland but holds no key official posts.
