The 33rd Fighter Wing based at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., is now the official training base for pilots flying F-35 Lightning IIs, the Northwest Florida Daily News reports.
The transition required 2,100 personnel and 53 F-15s to be reassigned, said Air Force officials.
The former fighter wing in the Air Combat Command is now a training unit under the Air Education and Training Command's 19th Air Force.
