About 3,000 Air Force communications officers shifted last month to the front lines of cyberspace, the Air Force Times reports.
The officers, formerly seen as being responsible for base computer networks, are now the go-to experts on how a computer or communication network can improve war-fighting capabilities, said Brig. Gen. David Cotton, the cyberspace director at Air Staff.
About 27,000 enlisted airmen officially switched to cyber warfare in November.
