Saudi Arabia's Interior Ministry says about 100,000 personnel will provide security for the annual hajj pilgrimage, reports Arab News.
The five-day hajj is expected to attract about 3 million people into a tent city not far from the Grand Mosque in Mecca.
An elite counterterrorism unit, traffic police and emergency civil defense personnel are among those deployed to protect the pilgrimage, which begins on Tuesday, said a ministry spokesman.
