Three Indian peacekeepers with the U.N. mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo were killed on Wednesday when rebels attacked their base in Kirumba in North Kivu, reports the Press Trust of India.
Around 50 or 60 Mayi-Mayi rebels attempted to invade the base, then fled into the forest shortly thereafter, said Indian army officials.
The Indian casualties belonged to the 19 Kumaon Regiment, which has served with the MONUC mission since February. The mission recently changed...
