Federal prosecutors have charged three San Diego residents with aiding the Somali insurgent group Al-Shabaab, the BBC reports.
According to the unsealed indictment, the men allegedly provided money and other support for the terrorist group, said U.S. Justice Dept. officials.
The suspects were detained Sunday and Monday. They were specifically accused of working with former Al-Shabaab military leader Moalim Aden Hashi Ayro, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike in 2008.
