22 Female Air Force Officers Given Permanent Commissions

The Indian air force will grant permanent commissions to 22 female officers as ordered by a court directive, reports the Indo-Asian News Service.
The officers had petitioned the Delhi High Court, saying the denial of permanent commissions was discriminatory.
Twenty of the 22 women were forced to retire after completing 14 years as short-service commission officers; two are still serving.
