Ukrainian officials say there will be cuts of 40,000 defense personnel over the next five years in order to reduce spending, RIA Novosti reports.
There are currently about 200,000 military and civilian Ukrainian defense personnel.
Reductions are planned through 2015 and will affect military and civilian personnel equally, said Chief of General Staff Gen. Hryhoriy Pedchenko.
The general also said the Defense Ministry has plans for up to 20 joint projects with NATO in 2011. ...
