The Naval Air Systems Command has awarded Lockheed Martin a $259 million contract for two more F-35 Lightning II fighters under the fifth low-rate initial production batch, reports the Dept. of Defense.
The contract awarded Friday covers an F-35A conventional aircraft and an F-35C carrier variant for the U.S. Air Force and Navy, respectively.
The size of that order is now 32 jets, reported Reuters.
Work under the contract is scheduled to be completed by February 2014. ...
