2 Deals Cover Mid-Life Upgrades, New Sub Purchases

The Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Saab a pair of contracts for submarine projects, reports the defense firm.

The deals, inked on Tuesday, cover the period from 2015 to 2024 and are worth a total of US$1 billion, according to a Saab release.

Under a US$913 million contract, Saab will build, test and deliver two new Type A26 submarines for the Swedish navy. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2022 and run through 2024.
