The U.S. Air Force has inactivated the unit that formerly provided air resources to the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).
The 17th Air Force was stood down during a ceremony Tuesday at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, according to an AFRICOM release.
U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) has now assumed responsibility for providing air components to Africa, officials said.
