In $178 Million Deal, Navy Buys 186 Evolved Sea Sparrow Interceptors

The Naval Sea Systems Command has awarded Raytheon Missile Systems, Tucson, Ariz., a contract modification for anti-aircraft missiles, reports the Dept. of Defense.

The $177.9 million deal covers multi-year fiscal 2016-2017 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles (ESSM) Block I production.

Under the modification, 186 all-up rounds, inert operation missiles, spare parts, shipping containers and other support will be delivered, the Pentagon said on Nov. 4.
