17,000 Troops Expected To Pacify Karamoja In 6 Months

The Ugandan government has recently sent thousands of additional troops to the Karamoja sub-region to improve security, reports the New Vision (Kampala).
More than 17,000 troops have been deployed in the northeastern part of the country to strengthen the disarmament operation and guard the borders against gun-trafficking and foreign incursions, officials said.
A battalion of special operations troops has also been sent for missions in mountainous terrain.
