The Nigerian army has deployed thousands of troops in the Southeast and Niger Delta regions, as well as to Plateau, Bauchi and Borno states, in an effort to boost internal security, reports This Day (Lagos).
All army training exercises were cancelled to free up the personnel for the mission, which aims to restore security across the country by mid-2011, said Lt. Gen. O.A. Ihejirikia, the army chief of staff.
