Security forces and opposition fighters have been involved in heavy fighting in the southern Yemeni city of Zinjibar, the BBC reports.
At least 15 people were reported killed overnight Tuesday as troops advanced on the city. Government officials blamed Al-Qaida militants for the violence.
There have also been reports of clashes in Taiz, Yemen's second-largest city.
