Eleven U.S. troops and three American security contractors were killed Monday in a series of helicopter crashes in Afghanistan, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The crashes involved three helicopters, said U.S. and NATO military officials.
In southern Afghanistan, two choppers collided in mid-air, killing four troops, officials said. Hostile fire was ruled out as a cause.
In western Baghdis province, a NATO helicopter went down in the wake of a firefight, said the officials....
