1,000 Troops May Remain In Afghanistan In Training Capacity

The Canadian government is considering maintaining a large military training mission in Afghanistan once it concludes combat operations next year, reports the Globe and Mail (Toronto).
The proposed mission would involve 700 to 750 military trainers and about 200 support personnel, according to government officials.
The move would nearly fill a NATO shortage of about 900 trainers in the country.
