At least one person has been killed in fighting when a U.S. patrol in Syria encountered a pro-government militia checkpoint in the northeastern part of the country, reports BBC News. On Wednesday, the patrol was operating near the city of Qamishli, near the border with Turkey, when it encountered the checkpoint, said a U.S. spokesman.
