Sinai Province

Wilayat Sinai (Sinai Province). Sometimes referred to as the Islamic State of Sinai. The group was formerly referred to as Ansar Bait al-Maqdis (Supporters of Al-Aqsa Mosque); that name is occasionally still used.

Based in Egypt, primarily the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip. It has established cells in other governorates, including Cairo and Giza, expanding operations into those locations as well as the Western Desert. It has also launched rockets into Israel.
