Spirit AeroSystems was established in June 2005 when Boeing sold its Commercial Airplanes operations in Kansas and Oklahoma to a holding company formed by Onex Corporation for $1.2 billion. Under the terms of the deal, Spirit became Boeing’s exclusive supplier for the products and services previously provided by Boeing Wichita.
