Eurofighter Typhoon. The centerpiece of the Spanish Air Force air combat component is the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Spain originally signed on for 87 Eurofighter Typhoons at a cost of EUR10.8 billion ($15 billion) and held an option for an additional 16 fighters.
The fighters were delivered from three contract/production batches, or "tranches."
