Aircraft Programs

Combat Aircraft. Romania followed a long, winding path towards replacing its Soviet-legacy MiG-21 Lancer combat aircraft, but by May 15, 2023, the obsolete fleet – incompatible with NATO Alliance missions – was finally retired.

In place of the MiG-21s are 17 F-16AM/BMs.
