Aircraft/Helicopter Programs

The core of the Latvian Air Force is the transport fleet, including 11 Antonov An-2s. The service previously operated four Mi-17 helicopters, which are being replaced with UH-60M Black Hawks. Two Mi-2 helicopters were used for pilot training. The An-2s, together with five PZL-104 Wilgas, are also tasked with border patrol, light transport, and aerial reconnaissance and provide a platform for parachute jumping in support of Latvian Army commando...
