Latvia has roughly 8,000+ active-duty personnel with the inclusion of the Joint Staff (which includes Special Forces and Military Police). There is also a reserve National Guard and over 9,000 part-time volunteers.
Conscription is no longer practiced (a return to the practice was debated and rejected in 2017), but Latvian government officials continue to examine the security environment and consider a return to the practice.
