Fighter Fleet. The Bulgarian Air Force's fleet of jet fighters centers on its 1980s-vintage MiG-29 Fulcrum fighters, which are used for air-policing duties and the overall protection of Bulgarian air sovereignty. The Air Force's inventory also includes around six mothballed Soviet-era MiG-21UMs and some 14-odd Su-25 Frogfoot fighters, of which only about four remained serviceable at any given time post-2012.
