OVERVIEW The Albanian navy, formerly known as the Coastal Defense Command, is technically a part of the Joint Forces Command. It is in very poor operational condition after years of neglect and a lack of funding. Difficulty in obtaining spare parts and poor maintenance have sidelined most of the navy's "front-line" submarines and patrol boats.
