OVERVIEW The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) operates in the Gulf of Oman, Strait of Hormuz, Arabian Sea and the Persian Gulf. Iran's acquisition of three KILO-class submarines from Russia between 1993 and 1997 accelerated Oman's acquisition of anti-submarine warfare-capable vessels and systems.
